MICHAELIS CHAIR OF FINE ART
Applications are invited for the post of Michaelis Professor of Fine Art and Director of the Michaelis School of Fine Art vacant from March ist, 1937. The salary is £1, 000 per annum. The Professor must become a member of the University Teachers’ Superannuation Fund.
The Professor will be expected to undertake or to supervise the teaching in the Michaelis School of Fine Art (e. g., painting, drawing and engraving, sculpture and other kindred subjects).
Appointments are generally restricted to candidates under 35 years of age, but in the case of a candidate who has been engaged in teaching or in research in South Africa this restriction need not apply.
Applications (six copies) must reach the Secretary, Office of the High Commissioner for the Union of South Africa, South Africa House, Trafalgar Square, London, W. C. 2 (from whom Forms of Application and further particulars may be obtained) not later than September 15th, 1936. Applicants, in addition to giving copies of testimonials, must give the names of three referees. Salary will be paid from February ist, 1937, if the Professor has vacated his previous post on or before January 31st, 1937, and reports for duty by February 25th, 1937; otherwise salary will be paid from date of assumption of duty.
