(* N. B. —Although its members are regularly consulted in regard to their respective subjects and give invaluable help and advice to the editors, the committee is not collectively responsible for the magazine. )
The editors will be glad to receive proposals for articles or to consider MSS., provided that they are type-written or quite easily legible. But they would point out that they can use only articles written by those who have a real knowledge of the subjects treated, and have no use for articles compiled from works of reference. MSS. should in all cases be accompanied by a stamped and addressed envelope for their return if unaccepted; otherwise they cannot be returned.
All photographs intended for reproduction should be printed on albumenized silver paper, or, jailing this, on any shiny paper. Brown or red prints are practically useless for the purpose of block-making.
In the case of unsolicited contributions the editors request correspondents (i) to excuse them from replying otherwise than by a formal printed letter, and (ii) to state whether the refusal of the MS. is offered indefinitely or for a limited period. When the offer is indefinite, the editors cannot be answerable for time or opportunities lost by an adverse decision after long consideration; nor can they in any case undertake to return a MS. or be responsible for its loss, although every care will be taken of MSS. sent. All
communications should be addressed to: — The Editors, The Burlington Magazine, 17 Old Burlington Street, London, W. Telegraphic Address: ‘Rariora, London.’ Telephone: 4095 Gerrard.
